When you see or hear the word "God" what happens for you? Do you shrink from even considering that...

it might have different connotations to different people from different backgrounds? Many seem to equate it with religion...others are able to expand it to allow greater meaning, using it as a metaphor for the Unknown and Unknowable. Why do people become so stuck on their limited view, out of their limited experiences? Wouldn't opening to others' sincerity open us up to a healthy discussion and sharing, even if their "word" differs from your own? Why do we insist that everyone use our language, honor our experience without honoring another's? If we tried harder to see through or beyond the word, wouldn't we find common ground? Or are we so insistent that only we have the Truth? Explore this idea with me as you think of the "other" as yourself, though perhaps a different aspect. Let's leave RELIGION out of it...i'm not talking about dogma or doctrine.
