What is the best way to overcome a boss that strives to suppress you, b/c he is threatened by you?

For example, I'm a young professional and am lucky enough to have many fields of knowledge due to my father part-owning a number of different businesses in the tech industry, which is best for a R&D department. This guy sticks me in the back and never lets me talk to any of the engineers or upper management about my ideas. His brother works there and he tells me that he touts himself in meetings as being the owner of the ideas. Now I understand in college when your professor writes a paper he gets most of the credit while you do most of the work, but if this guy is stealing my ideas and saying they are his then I'm never going to advance.
