Why most of the popular TV/films Witches are light skinned?

Witchcraft is often thought of as a Nordic European thing. Even the names are Nordic sounding: Samantha, Sabrina, Zelda, Hilda, Hansel & Gretle (sp?). Given that this has merit, it wouldn't be out of character to have them as blue eyed blondes like in the Sabrina Series.
